WANT TO BUY: 240D EXHAUST BRACKET

I've reached out to a few folks, but so far my research shows the following. I could be wrong.

My car is a 1982 W123 240D Diesel Sedan with automatic tranny.

The donor car needs to be 1981 - 1983, diesel, 4 cylinder 240D, automatic tranny.

The entire exhaust bracket from the header pipe to the tranny, to include all the miscellaneous hardware. And yes, I appreciate the rubber is probably degraded. The bracket itself appears to be a two-piece deal.

Please post pictures here on the forum and not offer to send them to an email ... Many thanks to the folks who responded by PM.

So far, from what I can tell, 1981 - 1983 is the donor range.

Are you sure it needs to be from an auto car? If not, and you can wait a month or two, those exhaust parts from my 83 240D will be available when I put in the 300D engine.

The rubber hardware is available new. I don't have the parts from the range you need but I'm pretty sure I still have the bracket from my 4 speed swap. It would be from a 77 so I don't really know if that will work for you or not.

I called around and it could be somewhere in the 1979 range and forward which will work. There was apparently a change in 1979, but no clue what it was.

I remember when 240Ds with auto tranny used to be in the yards all the time and this would be an easy peezy deal from the JY for a few bucks ... now, nothing at the yards ...

Yes, the rebuild kit is under $12 bucks but I was hoping to get an intact one so that I know 100% it's the right part at install time and the rebuild is easy afterwards.

I have a 1980 240D automatic parts car. Do you have a photo of what it is supposed to look like?

Hi Rich,

Unfortunately no as my car is missing the entire set up. I know 81-83 will work 100%, but not sure about 1980 models. I will try some more research today. Thanks !

I have no idea what it really looks like because my car is missing. it Here are some pictures of what it could look like. From MBPartsWord ... it says that 1981-1983, but it could include older models, going back to 1979, however not sure.

I do know that I need the entire set-up, to include all mounting hardware and rubber bits, although I know they are degraded. I need a survivor which does not have any rot, broken, damaged or missing pieces.

THE ATTACHED PICTURES ARE NOT 100% CONFIRMED AS BEING THE PART.

I went out and looked under my parts car, and yes, I do have all of those parts on the car. In fact, they look exactly like the photos, grease and all!
It will be a little difficult getting the parts off, as access is limited. I have the cars stuffed in my back fenced area, with little room in between the cars and the fence. I will try to get them off in the next couple days, dodging the raindrops.....Rich

Hey those photos look familiar Anyway I have multiple brackets (no part #'s on any of them unfortunately) and you are more than welcome to try the one off my 79 240d, and if for some reason it doesn't fit, exchange it. I highly doubt that there's that much variation between 1979 and 1982.

BTW my bracket and all hardware (shown in the photos above) is off the car, ready to go when (and if) you need it.

Yes, these photo's came from UPOD. He was nice enough to follow up and send those photos last week or the week prior. Because I have nothing to go of, little hesitant. I am not trying to be chinchy -- I just want to make sure 100% of the following:

1. I get all the correct parts;
2. Nothing has any damage. I don't care about greasy, et cet., but no rot or damage.

Got it in the mail last night. After cleaning off 30+ years of grease and grime, looks rather minty. Hopefully, this is the part. Will know in a few weeks ... thanks again !

Many Thanks to Upod !

Total success. Exhaust is now 100% and the bracket with rebuild kit was the finishing touch.
