Hey everybody,

Long-time lurker, shorter-time member, and avid supporter of the board here.

I am parting out a 1985 300TD with 260xxx miles. China Blue over blue MB Tex. The car is almost 100% complete. It belonged to a friend of mine, who rear ended another car at low speed in traffic, and though it is likely fixable, she didn't have full insurance coverage and opted just to sell it to me for parts and start fresh. I helped her buy the car three years ago from the second owner, who was a family man and kept the car up mechanically very well. He used it mainly for long road trips with his family and showed us about $9k in receipts for work done over the eight or so years he owned it. It was always serviced by the same Mercedes W123 specific mechanic down in Long Beach since then. This is hands down the quickest 617 turbo I've ever driven - I contemplated swapping the engine/tranny into my 83 sedan, but decided it was just too big a project to undertake right now (and my 83 got a new, dealer installed transmission @ 80K). The hood, grill, lights/headlight doors, passenger front fender and radiator are all damaged, but the car survived unscathed other than that.

I'm keeping the rear differential, the front two window regulators, and a couple other knick knacks. It has the roof rack w/ cross bars intact (including most of the rubber nubs), the 1985 722.315 transmission w/ higher stall speed torque converter that shifted PERFECTLY before the accident, the SLS system intact including SLS pump, third row seats, intact headliner, and all the other 85 and wagon specific goodies. The car had a respray sometime in the past and the roof was faded when she purchased the car, but the rest of the body is straight.

Car ran fine after the accident, but we shut it down because the radiator was punctured and we didn't want it to overheat.

I'm located in mid-city Los Angeles, CA just off the 10 freeway and the car is located in my backyard with alley to street access. I work a 10-6 job, but work from home on Tuesdays and can have weekends free. Local pickup only. Hey, I'm local. I need a china blue drivers door for my sedan. I assume they're the same as the wagons. And maybe the front fender too! Hell, I might grab some of the blue interior as well.
