A picture would be good Tom, because I don't know what you mean by "half shaft". It just doesn't ring my bell!

I suspect he's talking about a rear axle shaft, complete with CV joints, commonly referred to in the automotive industry as a "half shaft".

It would be nice to know if it's a homokinetic or annular version, and from what model/year. Not a whole lot to go on here otherwise.

As a data point, for W123 chassis the cheap Chinese rebuilt are around $100, a high quality rebuilt is around $160 from CVJ, the premiere rebuilder of MB axles, and a brand new one from Mercedes is around $500.

It is a factory half shaft for a 123 chassis. I can provide a pic if necessary.
