W116 parts available
It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Paula.
A yellow 1973 450 SE that because of its butter color was named for the famous TV chef that touted the use of butter. She was parked on a hill when someone broke in and attempted to steal an aftermarket radio. The perp knocked the car out of park and without the parking brake set she rolled down the hill clipping one tree and crashing into another. It could have been worse because if it hadn't been for the tree the car could have collided with traffic or someone's house.Nevertheless, I am now making available parts from the car. The engine and transmission are in very good condition for the age of the car. All doors except the drivers door are ok. The front bumper is spoken for. The steering wheel is also in excellent condition. The interior is VERY rough so little of value there, except the steering wheel. The car was running and I was driving it occasionally to keep it up. The time required to harvest and ship parts is unknown as I have found a place to keep it, but I am still working out details with owner of the shop as to how the arrangement of parting the car will work. |

Sadly, no. But the cops have a good idea who it was.
I am fortunate that the car found a tree and not someone's house.

poor thing; a sad end.
When my younger boy was not quite 3, he was always underfoot because I was doing fun things with cars. He climbed into the driver's seat of a 300D parts car that I had just driven up driveway and his mom thought it was cute so she was just watching. Then he took it out of park and it stopped being cute. Thankfully, just after parking the 300D, I moved a heavy milk crate to the base of the driveway and then moved my suburban there to put the crate in the truck. Hitting and running over the crate first slowed down the car so it didn't do more than a little fender damage to the suburban. The 300D got the open passenger side door bend backwards as it rolled past bushes and the really nice euro back bumper bent out of shape. Joe still remembers the terrifying joy ride 11 years later. -CTH |

This is very sad and equally as horrible. I hope they catch the bum, I was glad to read that no one was in the vehicle at the time.
In regards to parts, how is that front bumper? I can't really tell but is it in good shape How are the seats, are they real bamboo leather? I am looking for the front arm rest, and the two rear corner covers that hug the upper part of the front seat backs, looking for a set without tears or marks. Also the driver upper portion of the seat I am very interested, in, if there are no tears. Also I posted this link over at w116.org
