Free W124 Parts Car!
I have a 1989 300E parts car I’m offering to you for the super low price of free! All you need to do is haul it away.
Here’s the story. The previous owner drove this car over a chunk of concrete, tore a gaping hole in the oil pan, and continued along for about 100 feet before stopping. She had it towed to a shop where it sat for about three months while she contemplated what to do with it. I happened by and noticed the outstanding saffron MBTex interior, much of which I could use for my 1987 300TD. I also wanted to use the hood on this car to replace the paint-damaged hood on my red 1988 300CE. I negotiated a price and hauled it home. After taking possession, I realized the car was repainted ... rather poorly. I preferred to leave in place the factory hood on my coupe despite the damage because the 30-year old factory finish is so much better. Nevertheless, I stripped out virtually all of the interior, the brakes, some engine components, the almost new exhaust, and lots of other odds and ends. As much as I would like to retain the sheet metal, I’m an Army officer and I move from place to place every few years. Accordingly, schlepping fenders and doors I may use “someday” is a little inconvenient for me. Basically, you’re getting all of the *rust-free* sheet metal, the trans, the engine block (with a giant tear in the oil pan), the wheels and tires (tires date from 2010 and are pretty dry-rotted), and other miscellaneous parts. The car rolls freely. The RR door has a dent. Location is Sanford, North Carolina, USA, about 20 miles from Fort Bragg. Again, you will need to haul away your gift! |
