In North America (per MBNA) the 3.27 ratio was supplied thru September 1981; thereafter the ratio was 2.47. In the rest of the world the 3.27 may have been supplied later.

My info came from here:
https://mbturbo.com/gear-ratios/ "w126 1st Generation w126 Years,Model, Engine, Differential Ratio, Differential Case Size 1984-1985, 380 SE+SEL, M116.963 3.8L V8, 3.27, from 1981-10, 2.47, 1.3 Liter" I have some guy here in Thailand trying to middle me one from Germany at an obscene cost and apparently 1.3 case at 3.27. All I have pics is the 8 side bolt case, and the 3.27 stamp, but I don't have much faith in the technical ability of the middle man I need a German auto wrecker!! I found another in the USA but 1.1 case |

"from 1981-10", i.e., from October (10) 1981 onward, 2.47. As above. |

I read that as: 1984-1985, 380 SE+SEL, 3.27 from 1981-10, 2.47, 1.3 Liter" IE one year only at 3.27 Or am I hopelessly confused???? |
