W123 4 Speed Manual Transmission

For sale is a W123 4 Speed Manual Transmission. It was removed from a 1983 Mercedes W123 Diesel. Transmission was in working order when it was taken out. I also have the matching 4 speed shifter. I would prefer local pickup due to the size/weight of the item but am willing to ship anywhere in the US at buyer's expense.

Price is $500 OBO.

good trans pictures, would you sell the shifter separately?
Also, did you save the flywheel? If so, which motor did it come from?

Thx -CTH
PS. What's local for you?

Hi CTH,

I would sell the shifter separately if you're interested. I actually reused the flywheel as I swapped this transmission for a 5 speed manual.
Local is NYC for me- I would travel an hour or so to meet a buyer.

Since I know I'm new to the forums, here is a timestamp photo of the transmission:

Although it may have been removed most recently from a 1983 model car, its origin is pre-1980/81. 1980/81 is the changeover point from iron case transmissions to all aluminum. Hence the 115 casting number on the side cover.

Hey Frank,

Thanks for your comment. You may be correct about that; the car it was in originally had an automatic transmission and it was swapped in. I was not trying to be misleading, thank you for clarifying.

In addition to the iron case/aluminum case difference, the shifters and linkage rods also are different for the two types.

Just to clarify, which version- case-wise are you selling, will it fit in a 1983 OM616 and what about the shift rods?

Thanks

Thanks

I can't confirm if it will fit an OM616, I had it attached to an OM617.

If they were taken off a 5 cylinder 617 engine then they were cut to fit. The 4 cylinder are longer. I am doing a auditor manual swap and have uncut **** linkage from iron box trans
