W116 1976 280S $300

1976 280S, no engine or transmission. It had a diesel swap in it that I used for another project. Miles are unknown, likely between 100-150k.

Tires are from January of 2019, seemed OK on a short test drive but it has been sitting for awhile. Suspension seems to have been maintained and in running condition. Differential and CVs look to be original, there is no driveshaft, shifter, or flexdisks. There are 2 additional holes drilled for a different model shifter. Brakes, including parking work. All windows work. Do not see common rust issues, some surface rust in places, body has some dents. Wiring behind the cluster did not appear to have been molested, engine bay harness side looks like some splicing has been done. Climate control unit looks recent, though I didn't test it out when running. The front seats are from a 86-91 W126.

Title in hand - $300 delivered to Denver/Boulder.

Yes they are, unfortunately the passenger seat has some tears on the backrest. I didn't look too closely, it appears the original rails with handle release were used for manual fore-aft movement, but assume the backs are locked in position if not wired. I'll have to take a photo of the seat mounting and see what they did with the w126 wiring.

Thanks, looking for very nice ones. Would have to be shipped to FL so that in itself could be a task.

Attached here are some better shots of the seat and mounting.

garyd75 - It would be nice to make this a driver again, however the list of projects that I'll maybe get to in this lifetime continues to grow. If somebody wants this car for this purpose you can have it, I need to reduce my piles ASAP.

rwd4evr - Yes I am within an hour of Boulder, CO. I already have the car loaded on the trailer and can meet in the Boulder/Denver area.

I would be all over that since I have a euro 350se with nice bumpers but rot. I want to om606 swap a w116 for a tow rig. Unfortunately I'm on the east coast and it's not really economically viable to ship or pick it up.

I just had an incredibly bad idea that I love. It was diesel swapped right? What rear ratio is in it? Maybe I ship an om617 and trans out there and put it together to drive home

Here are some more seat pics, though I don't think shipping these to FL is feasible or easy.

rwd4evr - Interesting... this was a om606 swapped rig. I have the mounts, oil pan, and custom driveshaft this guy made to get it into the 116. It drove pretty well even with a dead cylinder, at least compared to my old 116 300sd. The engine has low compression in #1 due to what appears to be a valve issue, I plan on rebuilding it to replace the 300k mi 606 in my 126 one of these years. If you decide to proceed with your bad idea (I have bad ideas all the time obviously) I'll hang on to this for awhile. I believe the ratio is the original 3.69 185mm, doesn't look like the diff has been out.

What trans was in it? 2? 3.69 with no overdrive is not ideal at all. To far to scream it at 75mph. I'd be interested in the mounts maybe. I'm going 6 speed manual so ds won't do me any good.
