Does anyone in Los Angeles Need W123 Front Springs for Cheap???
I recently replaced the entire front end suspension on my 1979 300TD wagon. I wrote about it in the Diesel Discussion section, http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/412313-w123-correct-front-end-ride-height.html The old front springs still seem good and the original ride height looked good when they were on the wagon so I was wondering, would anyone be interested in buying them? I would sell them for cheap. I just think throwing them away would be a shame since they are still usable.
There was a moment when I was considering putting these springs back on my car so I lightly sanded them and spray painted them black. I've included a few pics of how they originally looked so you can see the color coded paint markings and I've also included photos after I painted them black. I also have the shims too. The shims are the thickest option, 23mm thick. Although these shims were too thick for my new springs, they worked nicely with these old springs and the front end ride height looked great. I'm assuming these springs would also work with the sedan models but I couldn't say for sure. I'm in Los Angeles (Los Feliz) and I do not want to ship these so if anyone local wants to make me an offer and come pick them up that would be great. Part Numbers: Springs: 1233212704 Shims: 1233211684 (4 burls) |

Springs are very low demand. Now if you really want to get rid of the springs, the way to do so is to bundle them with other DESIREABLE parts, like seats, rims, headlights etc. Stuff that people always ask for. Then make it an "all or nothing" deal.
Getting someone to come to you ONLY for the springs will be needle in a haystack. FYI, I have had only one person in the past decade ask me for used, 250k mile springs. |

Oddly enough, I may want them. I am in San Diego, and will probably be up there for a big Mercedes meet-up on the 27th. Cars & Coffee LA will be a Mercedes 'takeover'. Will you be there by chance?

Yes, I will be there. I also live 2 minutes from Griffith Park. Let me know if you do in fact want them.

I would have to confirm the numbers but I need a heavier set than I am running. I live in West LA. I guess one benefit of living in socal is that with 18M people here and no rust there are still a lot of people driving and maintaining these cars. So you can play the haystack game.
While we are on the topic, I have a set of rear H&R lowering springs for a 124 if anyone needs a set. Will be pulling the fronts soon also. |
