interior lighting question

I have a question regarding the new E classes dash lighting. Why did MBZ swith to blue recently, after using that orange yellow color for so many years? I always heard that red-ish colors were the best as it was the color that was easiest to adjust to while night driving--by this I mean, its easier for one's eyes to re-adjust to the night after looking at a red or orange light than with other colors. I am sure there was research done to determine which color is best, but it seems that they went to blue just cause it looked more modern and 'prettier'. Or something. Anyways, I think it looks tacky. And what's with the big ben style clock? Is it because old people are more likely to buy the car? That said, the 211 dash design looks better than the 203's, thank god.
So, can anyone explain this to me? thanks.
