Alternate

A W201 with a M103 (190e 2.6) 5 speed would work.

Jim, thanks. I stayed away from that as I don't know what the difference is between a 717.430 (W124) trans. and 717.4XX (others). I'm sure it would bolt in but am unsure of the ratios. The 717.430 says GL76/27A5, but I don't know what that specifies. I still need all the W124 bits and pieces to make it work.

hanno,

I just thought that you should know that the manual trans 300E was brought to the US by MBUSA in 1986 model year and again in the 1988 model year. The transmissions were different in these tow model years.

In the 88 reverse was in the lower left corner of the pattern and in the 86 it was in some other location. They are two different transmissions, so don't expect to interchange much of anything in the way of transmission parts between the two cars.

I just thought you would want to know this.

The 16V in the above picture would be a great buy for someone with a decent '86 190. You could make a neat car from the two of them. I wish I had the money and time right now, I would take it on.

Good luck,
