2003 C32 AMG/2003 CLK55 AMG Brembo 13.6 inch brake upgrade!

The 2003 C32 AMG / 2003 CLK55 AMG brake upgrade consists of the 13.6 inch front cross drilled rotors, Brembo calipers, pads, and pad sensors. Jack at American Service Center in Arlington, Virginia installed these on his 190E.

Here's a pic:

AMG Brakes installed on 190E 16 Valve

You will have do run 17's to clear the calipers and they will be installed as trailing brakes like in the first picture instead of leading brakes in the second picture. I was going to get these installed on my Limited Edition but my wife talked me into keeping the wheels stock.

They will bolt right up to W203 and W209 Chassis.

I paid almost $900 for everything from the dealership but it is up for sale for $745 plus whatever actual shipping will be.

Kit includes:

203 421 09 12 Brake Disk (2)
002 420 19 83 Caliper Left
002 420 20 83 Caliper Right
003 420 42 20 Brake pads (2 sets)
220 421 01 71 Screw for brake disk (2)
124 214 04 71 Screw for calipers (2)
220 540 07 17 Brake pad indicator (2)

So you bought them, but your wife would not let you upgrade wheels to clear them?

So they are brand new right?

She'll let me but she convinced me to stay with the stock 15" wheels to keep the good ride since she drives it sometimes.

I think you should talk her into upgraded wheels. Id rather be able to stop, than to have a better ride. I guess if I had a wife, I'd be a little more understanding.

But you have the brakes there, why not put them on and see what she thinks. Then she can decide.

I'm not actively selling them because I'm planning on using them next year. However, I guess if someone wants to make an offer, I might consider it.

Are you saying these calipers are "reversed"? If so, did you know that the pistons are different sizes, and by flipping them, not only is the balance reversed, but the wear-pattern will be off as well.

Yes, the calipers will need to be reversed but to me the benefits of 13.6 inch cross drilled rotors and 4 piston calipers makes up for uneven pad wear.

J Irwan has a procedure to fix that problem without seperating the caliper. But, Im not giving up his secret, thats for him to tell.

Yea, I saw what he did to mount them properly on a W202 and W210 but I'm not sure if that will work on my W201 or not.

They won't work on a 500E because it hits some of the steering componets. ItalianBenz has tried this.

Fitting of the brake line into this caliper shouldn't be a problem if you try to look around a little bit more. There must be some fitting you can use to solve this problem.

Do any one have the information on the material of the calipers used, the weight of the calipers and the weight of the rotos for this C32 AMG brake? What is the weight compare to the early 500E and the late model E500 brake set up? I saw members post some negative feedback on change to the 600SL brake set up because of the weight increase. Since the C32 brake upgrade aslo involves a very large size rotor. I really wonder about whether there is any weight increase over the early 500E aluminum caliper set up. If there is any increase, does the increase affect the handling of the car.
