WTB: Hazard Switch for an 79 240D

My mom's 79 240D Hazard Switch Relay is acting up which in turn is affecting the turn signals. If she's signalling to turn, the turn signals will flash for about 8-10 times then stop. To get it going again, the hazard switch is turned on and turned off quickly. Then the turn signal will work again for another 8-10 times.

I'm assuming the Hazard Switch Relay is bad because when I pound on the hazard switch (from frustration) the turn signal will work intermittently. Maybe the relay is bad? What do you guys think?

Does anyone here have a spare on hand that they'd be willing to sell my mom inexpensively?

Hi! Sounds like its the hazard switch for sure. It has the relay built in, dirt and other nasties fall down into the switch causing problems over time. I have a working switch, $15 including shipping. These things are $81 retail!

Let me know!

Brandon

Hazard Switch & Speedometer Cable

I sent you 2 emails quoting you a prices for both a Hazard Switch/Relay and a Speedometer Cable...I wish that you at least would reply...If you ever took the time or had to pay someone to remove the speedometer cable you would understand that 12 dollars for the cable and shipping to Hawaii is very reasonable...

Sent you an email

Dear Jim,

Sorry this response is late. I sent you an email this morning. I was out the whole day yesterday and removed the Hazard switch last night. I emailed you before checking this forum. I am interested in the parts I requested from you and will pay your asking price. Here are the numbers written on the back of the switch:

1230820 02 05
WAG 500.573
SWF GERMANY

I hope it matches the one you have. I'll await your email.

Thanks,

jrmd01@yahoo.com

UPDATE on the hazard relay switch

My dad's friend who also owns a 240D came by and was helping me trouble shoot the Hazard switch relay problem. He was messing around with the fuse box and found the blown fuse.

The fuse was burnt at the terminals and not at the usual location in the middle of the fuse. That's why I missed it.

I hope this helps others on the forum...Oh, by the way after I replaced the fuse, the radio worked and the gas and temperature guage started working again. They often worked intermittently so I though it was a loose wire (or ground) --- not your typical blown fuse symptoms.

Special thanks to Mr. James Harris for his offer to help.

This forum is the best!
