Thanks...I had a chance to think about it and justified on the basis of how many springs I've changed...(or had changed for me) and the number that I will probably do in the future, that it's time for me to break down and buy a new Klann myself...which I ultimately did yesterday.
I figure with the set of springs I'll change when I receive it, plus one more set at some point, it will have paid for itself vs. the $325 the dealer wants to do it. J.G. P.S....I still have the SIR Tools compressor which I bought from Performance Products years ago (for $500+) that I'll sell cheap to anyone that wants it!!! I never really liked it, but I'm sure someone out there might... |

The Sir Tools compressor is a different design, and it's hard to get the hex flats engaged properly on the top plate. It drove me nuts. I bought a Klann and love it.

They are VERY different. The Klann is the genuine Mercedes compressor, complete with Mercedes tooling part numbers on each item, and is made in Germany. The eBay/Zdmak item for $250 is an offshore copy from Taiwan and who knows what kind of steel was used. If you look very closely you can see the shape of the holes in the plate are NOT the same. I have no idea if the quality of the cheap tool is decent enough to make it worth the cost savings. I've never seen one in person.

I purchased one, used it this past w/e... Works great, and I've used the Klann bugger numerous times. No perceptible difference b/w the two.
