35 mm vs. 25 mm offset

looking at 16" wheels 35mm offset to replace my 87 sl 15" 25mm offset. Will it work? If they do fit-up with no interference what are the other concerns should I have?

Correction: they are 16" 37mm offset. Will the fit my 25mm 87 560 sl?

Are you planning to use CLK 8 hole wheels by any chance?
You will have to drop the tire size minus one to keep from rubbing anything, but I suspect you may have a problem if offset isn't right.
Here's a discussion on the subject of offsets w/ this car:

you are missing one important piece of information here - the width of your new 16" wheels.

with this information, someone with knowledge of your car can be of more help to you.

Oh yes, right you are. I assumed the CLK wheels w/ 37 offset. They are 7 in wheels.

They are 7 spoke/16"/5-112 bolt pattern mercedes originals. I believe they came off a 2002 c230, but not sure. I saw a 37et stamped on the back of them, but i didn't note the width. They have 205 55 R16 tires on them and are currently on an 87 420sl that just threw a chain and is getting parted out. does anyone know the width of the rim based on this 205 55 R16 tire size? The 420sel owner says he had no problem running them on his car but i'm not sure they are correct for mine. I know the 420sel requires the same 25mm offset as my 560sl. Just because he felt safe with them on the 420sel is not good enough for me. I want to be sure they are ok for the 560sl. I believe there is a possibility that the 37mm offset might be ok for the 560sl depending on the width of the 16"/37ets coming off the 420sel. What width 16"/37 et would make the 37 et acceptable for the 560sl that requires 15"/25 et?
