Has anyone ever tried these on a W126

Have a chance to purchase these as an option for my SD. Anyone ever tried to run these? Tire size is 245/45/17 and Rim ET # - 8.5J17H2ET38. Looking for a without spacer opinion. I do not understand the ET thing as to if the number goes up or down does the hub move in or out in relationship to the center of the wheel. What are your thoughts? As always thanks for the info.

ET stands for the German word for "inset", so "ET-0" means that the rim centerline is exactly in line with the bolt face of the hub and "ET-38" means that the rim centerline will be 38mm inward (toward the center of the car) from the bolt face of the hub.

So if I understand correctly, AMG says to run this size tire/rim it should have an ET of 18. As these have an ET of 38 it would require a 20mm spacer. As the center of this rim is already 38mm inboard of the edge of the tire the outer rim is already pushed outward and by adding the spacer will be pushed another 20mms out. If I have this correct the rim and tire will be pushed out to far to be safe or to clear the wheel well and will not work. Unless of course I have this backwards in which case the spacer is needed to clear the inner suspension. Thank you for attempting to allow me to understand.

I don't think there is any possibility of running an 8.5" wheel on a W126 no matter which spacer you choose. Either it hits the tie rod or it protrudes way out beyond the fenderwells.............looks ridiculous.

The setup is just way too large for that vehicle.

Backwards.

Offset (ET), the measure from center of wheel to hubface, is the distance from center towards the OUTSIDE of the wheel.

The higher the ET, the closer to the face of the wheel will be the hub, and the rim will be offset towards the center of the car further.
