Phundts?
I was at a friends mercedes graveyard today, I'd never noticed the differences in reproduction bundts, so I snapped a few pics, and thought people may appreciate this. It was new to me.
So here is the real deal And then two different types of reproductions All three are 14", no other point to this post, just struck me as interesting.

There are several aftermarket companies that make reproduction Bundts:
Intra Ronal Melber Centra These are just some, there are definitely more out there that I haven't covered here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w123-e-ce-d-cd-td/1501657-how-many-different-styles-bundts.html

The FSM shows some of the manufacturer marks on the back of the wheel. They're not necessarily "aftermarket" just slightly different OE brands.

Were any of these mentioned above installed on the car from the factory as alternative OE parts?

I would believe yes, based on the info in the FSM and variations I've seen in junkyards. But to prove it you need to check the rear of the wheels. The FSM section 40-102 includes info about the Mercedes star being imprinted on the rear of the forged alloy wheels, but also permits manufacturer's stamps and their own part numbers.
There are 5.5, 6, 6.5 x 14 bundts and 7 x 15 bundts; so one 14 inch wheel doesn't equal another in part number. There are variations before and after 1981. There are different part numbers for wheels that are "factory" and wheels that are "spare parts." I presume that within these variations there are different runs from different manufacturers that are all OE and have the same basic measurements (i.e. 6.5x14 H2) but vary in some other small way. If it's got the star on the back, it's supposed to be OEM. From the FSM section 40-102 page 1. "Note: Each vehicle should be provided with rims of the same version on principle. Mount only rims approved. When in doubt, the MB part no. adjacent to the general designation will be decisive. Designation and part no. are located on wheel disk (...on forged light alloy rims inside). As an additional identification a Mercedes star is impressed...on light alloy rims from start of production." |

They aren't an expensive wheel to buy so the reasoning for someone to create hub cup versions is beyond me.
