08 E350 Wheel Options

2008 E350 Sport Package NON-4MATIC

This is a clean car with140k on it and has bent wheels. I can get the one front wheel redone for $150 or a new aftermarket wheel for $140. Thoughts???

Not being able to rotate the tires on this car due to different rims front and rear and directional rubber causes it to wear tires. Anybody put front rims on all four corners?
Does it cause speed sensor, ABS, stability or any other problems?

Thanks in advance.

Any w211 wheels will fit. Most are not staggered. If you're tired of dealing with bent rims get 16" wheels.

Thanks tjts1,
I never thought of that, is the reason to go to a taller profile to protect the rim?

I've have two excellent rear tires now. Next set of tires I think I'll look at the 16" wheels.

The wheels/tires on it from the factory have a very slight front to rear diameter difference. How sensitive are these setups calibrated e.g., if I put four identical sizes on is it going to have a caniption?

Yes, taller sidewall tires protect the rims. All W211 wheel and tire sizes are designed to be interchangable while the overall tire circumference remains the same. What you give up in wheel rim you gain in flexible tire sidewall. On my w211 wagon I went from 245/45R17 wheels (1 of which was bent) to 215/55R16. The 16" wheels are identical from and rear and can be rotated.

This video demonstrates the abuse w211 16" wheels and tires can take.

Great info, thank you!

I'll put on two 18" mid-grade front tires now because the rears are new and start looking for a good used set of 16" wheels.
