Putting 14" with wheel covers on my 82' 300d

hi there,

I tried to search around for this, but don't seem able to get the info I need.

I have the bundts original to the car and if I want to swap for painted matching wheel covers with the emblem, what do I need to do about making that switch?

I know this is probably very basic, but this is something I know ZERO about.

Many thanks,

LBJ

You need to find a set of W123 steel wheels and the matching wheel covers. The wheel covers will probably need to be repainted. It is best to have this done professionally if you want the best look. Good idea to replace the rubber valve stems at the same time on the steel wheels. Mercedes made metal valve stems but they are hard to find and expensive. Mount your tires on the steel wheels and have each tire/wheel assembly balanced.

Thank you, I was unsure about the steel v. alloy situation with the covers. my spare in my DD is the only metal valve stem I've ever come across on any of my cars, always wonder how it ended up there.

I don't think the 14" rims ever came on the 123. They were on earlier models such as the fintail six cylinders but I would worry about clearance on the calipers.
