Do S-03s run small???

Hi,

A while back, someone posted a message claiming that his S-03 in 245/45/17 had a 24.6 inch diameter, 1" less than what it should have been.

Has anyone else observed anything similar? How about on tread and section width?

Please advise since I am looking to pull the plug on the S-03s or Sports for my 500E

Thanks in advance
farrukh

I have S03s in size 225/50 r 16s on my SLK and it is great. The diameter appears within norm.

Generally, S03s are slightly wider than other brands so if your car barely fits (width-wise) in your current setup, you may have rubbing problems against the fender with the S03s.

the S-03 is actually extremely wide in most sizes .... I use a 265/40-17 on my car which is physically wider than all of the 275/40-17's on the market

Luke,
Thanks for your response.
I compared over the weekend in 245/45/17 Pilot Sports A/S with the S-03s. The latter was more narrow by 1/8" or so and also smaller in diameter. Is this typically the case?
thanks

every tire does vary some because of the manufacturing processes used .... but, the variations are usually in width not diameter

Was the tire mounted and loaded or just 2 tires against each other. Each tire is made differently...and some tires disperse load differently...which is why some look taller and when mounted and put on the car are the same as somethine else.

225/55/ WR 16 S-03's loaded appear to run noticably wider vs. P6000 225/55/16WR

like like said...width is where variations occur, not usually in diamater.
