FS: 1996 E300D Greasecar, Lexington VA, 165k, $3000 obo
Up for sale is a 1996 Mercedes E300D Diesel. Body has some rust, but is in overall good condition. Leather interior is in great shape. I have installed a custom-built veggie oil system to allow use of diesel or used vegetable oil. This is the third Mercedes I've converted, and the most reliable conversion of the three. Always starts without a block heater, even at 10 degrees. Is a very reliable and cheap car to own, especially if you are commuting and do your own basic maintenance.
Conversion details: Custom aluminum heated veggie oil tank, mounted in trunk behind seat. - Tank leaves room for a useful trunk - Still has room for the full-size spare tire under the trunk. - Flexible fuel filler neck allows filling veggie oil tank without spilling in trunk Heated aluminum veggie oil fuel line from tank to engine Trunk-mounted, coolant-heated Davco 380 fuel processor for veggie oil - Filters are $12 at any truck stop, and can be swapped in about 15 minutes without having to re-prime fuel system. Greasecar SV-100 veggie oil/diesel switching valves - built for use with heated veggie oil Simple, dash-mounted electric switch for manually selecting veggie oil or diesel Nylon veggie oil fuel lines under hood - same material as stock low-pressure fuel lines - very leak-resistant Nylon veggie oil return line to tank - ensures no trouble with air getting into the veggie oil system Veggie oil tank fuel gauge ARO air-powered fuel transfer pump included in sale - pumps even cold veggie oil Details: Palomino (tan) leather interior Power, Heated front seats AC works great Heat works great All vacuum-actuated parts work (AC vents, door locks, etc.) Trailer hitch - great for your veg-oil collecting system Original Becker stereo - I've added an aux-in cable to connect a smartphone or Ipod The bad: Driver and passenger power rear-view mirrors do not work Some rust bubbles under paint at wheel wells Will need tires soon Is missing some trim on the rear bumper Small section of clear coat missing on trunk - like this when I bought it, but it hasn't lost any more Work I've done: Replaced injector pump delivery valve seals with new viton (veg oil resistant) seals. No fuel leaks. Cleaned intake manifold New rear brake pads last week New rear window regulators - all windows operate New radiator last year New serpentine belt tensioner shock installed last year - engine runs smooth, no shakes New cabin air filters Asking $3,000 but will consider reasonable offers. Veggie oil conversion is worth $1,000 alone. Have all original owner's manuals including Maintenance Booklet which shows the car has been well maintained. Great looking veggie set up. Did you make the veggie tank yourself? Or, did you purchase it from a vendor?

I bought an aluminum boat tank off ebay, then a friend helped me cut and TIG weld to shorten it so it fits between the shock pillars. For heat I just used aluminum tubing bonded with heavy duty foil tape on the bottom of the tank, on the outside of the tank but inside the insulation. No chance of mixing coolant & fuel if anything leaks. Also added a fuel sending unit so it has a lighted veggie oil gauge in the center console.

I need to get an inspection, since this is still my daily driver. May need to put at least a few new tires on it. If someone makes an offer first, I'm willing to knock off the cost of new tires if you'd rather pick your own tires.
PM me if interested. Thx for looking.
