Mercedes Electronic Workshop Manual for sale?

I found what claims to be a Mercedes Workshop Manual for sale and I'm wondering if this is the real thing. Below is the description:

"Mercedes ElectronicWorkshop Manual covering every aspect of your Mercedes with Detailed Pictures & Full Mercedes-Benz Electronic Parts Catalog, This covers all models from 1985 up to current models, and the parts covers all from the 1960’s up to the current models.

This program covers all models listed below, this is the ideal program for operating your own Mercedes shop, it will allow you too print the service check sheets to give to your customers, it is also a great tool and will save you lots of time when you are troubleshooting problems. If you know what this program is then you will know how important it is when repairing Mercedes cars. This is the same program your local Mercedes dealer is using to repair Mercedes Benz vehicles.

Included are:

3 cdroms for installing the Electronic Workshop Manual program.

3 cdroms for installing the parts program.

A complete set of easy to read and follow setup instructions.

Troubleshooting tips sheet"

Is this what is referred to as Workshop Information System, WIS?

I too have seen these sold but have been too skeptical to buy one. Just sounds too good to be true. Has anyone tried it?

That's the system the shop uses. I think my brothers shop uses that.

Sounds like WIS. although I think this stuff is all going or gone "online" to the dealers. When there was no "online" system into the shop, WIS used to be updated via cdroms sent to the dealer, usually once a month, so it sounds like this is a "frozen" system, no updates. I'd research that with the seller, how current/what date is the material? ALSO WIS ran on an odd type of Windows, 95 or XP or something, just be careful about the OS, OK?
And sounds like it may also incluse EPC. See if it has Starfinder, that's a great tool to have. I'd be a little worried that it may eventually need a "shopkey" number to keep operating also, that's how they kept the dealers honest about it, a code would need to be entered once in awhile to keep it operating. But maybe there is a way to get around that from the disc.

The seller is going to send me a sample. I asked for the part that deals with replacing the harmonic balancer. He scanned it but it was to large to send it to me by email so he is going to mail it to me. When I get it I'll report back what he sent me.

After I receive and review what he sends me I'll ask the questions raised by Gilly.

EDITED: I just found this link on ebay, this is not the seller I have been dealing with. But maybe this is the same type of CD's but they are supposedly for all models of MB.

Thanks for the link Ron. I have talked to these people before (long ago), but this is the first time I'd seen these discs on e-bay. This guy seems to be more honest and reputable than the others selling CD's I'd seen in the past. His prices are higher too, but it looks like the genuine article. He has been selling shop manuals for years.

Here is a link to his ML CD. Here is a link to his website.

I may end up bidding on this, looks genuine.

The prices are attractive, but to order you have to wire money to Yugoslavia. I think I'll pass.

I went ahead and bought a 1 year subscription to AllData DIY for the ML. It's pretty good but not as complete as the professsional one they sell to repair shops which covers most cars but cost something like $175 per month.
