230GE Cabriolet -- Oklahoma City Help please...

Hello,

I am writing to you with hopes you can help my Dad. He drives a 1985 Mercedes 230GE SWB Cabriolet that he brought from Dave Holland at Europa in 1986 with @ 400 miles on it. He is having problems with getting it working properly. He lives in Oklahoma City, and has always taken it to the local Mercedes dealership. It has worked fine for the last 20 years, minus the fact that it is woefully under-powered due to the small 4 cylinder engine that I am sure you are already aware of. Recently the mechanic at Mercedes of Oklahoma City has been saying he no longer wants to work on it, however this seems to be due to lack of interest and possibly knowledge. Anthony at Europa has offered to get on the phone with and go over the appropriate fixes, but the mechanic said that he had tried this, but was told Anthony was not available (obviously this is not true). Anyway, to make a long story short my Dad thinks it might be time to get rid of the G, and I am trying to convince him otherwise. I know that he is just extremely frustrated and I wish I knew how to help. Do you have any ideas that can assist me in my attempt at relieving his frustration? ie- any mechanics in Oklahoma City, ways to improve the performance of the 230GE without replacing the engine, whatever...? I am at a dead end and you are my last hope for further information. I would greatly appreciate any and all help you can offer.

You might try posting in the "Vintage" forum as well. 85 is kinda "new" for that group, but they might be more familiar with your engine...probably a few "Okies" there too...

I understand this is quiet late in the day, but I was searching the forums for OKLAHOMA, and your post came up.
If it's any help I am a one man shop in Purcell...been here 16 years. Mercedes are one of the marks I work on a lot.

I'm in the book too. DKV Euro. Tel 1 405 527 6450
Not looking for work, as I have a lot booked in already but I would be willing to help you .
Don.
