I was going to have my dealer activate the auto lock feature. But then I read this on the Tech training guide... What do you guys think?

You can enable or disable the auto lock feature yourself with the lock button. Turn the key to the on position without starting. Hold the button down for ~5 seconds. Lock enables and unlock disables.

Auto door Locking

I have my 98 set to on on 16, auto lock occurs at 8 MPH and I like this feature. I have 17 set to off as I don't want the doors unlocking when I select park for some reason.

I suspect the "malfunction" is directed mostly at additional wear and tear on the latches. I just replaced my right rear latch yesterday, due to a failed microswitch.

Jim, Thanks...I'm gonna have 16 on. I was planning on getting 17 on too, but was wondering why you didn't think it would be useful...
