ML320 BAS ESP and Low Range indicators on

I recently drained the battery on my 99 ML320. After jumpstarting, the BAS/ESP and Low Range indicator lights came on and it limits the power to the engine. Basically, the engine starts now but the accelator won't work. According to the manual, I followed the instructions to clear these warning lights by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and then to the right. That didn't resolve my problem. Thinking that it might be a weak battery, a new one was installed and I still have the same problem. Any tips on how to clear this? Thanks.

** Update **

I must have inadvertently hit the Low Range switch. I was able to reset it by following the instructions in the manual. The BAS/ESP light remained on and still in "limp-mode". I searched the net and found the following tip to reset the FSS light but it worked for my BAS/ESP problem.

Mercedes M-Class:

How to reset Flexible Service System after an oil change
turn ignition key to position 2

press reset button twice within 4 seconds

turn ignition back to pos 1

press and hold the reset button

turn ignition to pos 2

keep pressing the reset button until buzzer sounds and new miles display appears

You have to give more info than that.
What do you mean the accelerator doesn't work?

Did anyone push on the part under the hood that the throttle cable hooks to? This can cause the electronic throttle to go into a limp-home mode, you may just need to have the code cleared.
If this isn't the problem I'd say the engine control unit went south.

I have the same problem now with my 2002 ML320.....disconnected the battery after a long vacation....come home...re-connect and now I got the BAS ESP light.

Where is the RESET button?

Thanks in advance.
