Whining sound during cold start
Its about 20 dgrs in NYC, getting a whining sound that lasts about 3-4 minutes after starting then goes away completley. If i turn the wheel in either direction, the sound gets a bit louder untill its well warmed up. Any feedback

I am getting the same thing - slight whinning sound when it is really cold (around 20 deg.) almost a whistling sound. quits when it warms up a bit. This is on a different car - 420SEL. Anyone? Ideas?

I don't know what the spec is for power steering fluid on this model, but I had a similar problem with a Ford Expedition that I was able to eliminate by going to a synthetic-based power steering fluid. I drained two pints of the old fluid out and substituted the synthetic. Zero noise this winter, even at 0 degrees.
