air intake system for gilly

hi this question is for gilly ive read that it seems you are the man when it comes to ml's or anyone else that can answer this please i have a 2000ml430 and i was checking the egr system and noticed where the air intake is mounted to the intake at the back of the motor on drivers side where the butterfly that opens and closes with throttle is, i noticed that it is just pushed on i didnt notice any clamps holding it on is there supposed to be? or did i brake it? any help is great thanx.

There are 2 molded "clips" for lack of a better name, that hold that "elbow" onto the butterfly part (which is the throttle actuator). If you can simply pull that elbow off, then either it's not snapped on correctly (I think it clips to the actuator, not sure anymore) OR you did break the elbow, and it should be replaced. The "clips" are part of the elbow, not a seperate part.

where to buy

hi gilly do you know where i can buy a new air intake the nipples did brake off it seems to be running good but just to know they are broke well you know how it is a mind thing vehicle is still under warrenty thanx. also it seems to be staying in place as there is a bolt holding it on passengerside near the tranny dip stick. thanx

I'd email "Phil" here at Fastlane. Sales here help support this site and I understand the prices are as good if not better than retail at the dealer. You might want to glance at the elbow and see if there is a part number cast into the part, would probably start with a "112" number, that'd help Phil out alot.
