Wipers that always judder

I run a 98 ML320 , my issue is the front wipers. They have always juddered when moving across the screen. I have bent the wipers in and out to no real benefit as well as changing the blades.
Could it be the springs in each wiper arm has weakened over the years and not applying eneough pressure for a clean wipe?

Has anyone else suffered from this noisy and annoying trait ??

Try wiping the blades with a cloth, paper towel, whatever - soaked in rubbing alcohol. Could be a buildup on the blade itself. Be sure to clean the windshield well - you might have wax or environmental buildup on the windshield.

I put a set of these http://www.tripledge.com/tripledge_ie/tripledge.aspx on a few years ago and solved the problem.

The springs do weaken over the years, some new fancy-dan blades may help for a while, rain x may help too. Dunno about prices but for my 201 the arm is only about 25 bucks...

Do you put anything on the windshield other than a cloth and water or windex. Some people wax the windows. If this is the case, stop. when the rain-x or wax wears down it will jump until you apply more or it wears completely off.

Also, I'd suggest changing wiper blades. I swapped to the newer Bosch with teflon coating and haven't had a problem in years except when it's time to change the blade or serious crud builds up on the rubber. And like it was mentioned above, I clean the blade with a towel and windex(amonia or acohol).

The new blades are worth a try for around $10

Good luck
