Brake rotor recommendations
Replacing pads and rotors on my 2000 ML320 and looking for ATE rotors (recommended on this site). Have found ATE's for the front but not for the rear. My question...... is there any problem putting ATE's on the front and another brand on the rear (Zimmermans?).

ATE doesn't make their own rotors!! THEY are "cheap" castings from Italy.
Zimmermann is a German made rotor & MUCH higher quality than the ATEs'. ONLY ATE power slots come from German castings! |
Do Not Use Ebc Front Rotors

There Is A Screw That Has To Be Removed So The Rotor Can Be Removed From The Spindle. The Purpose Of This Screw In Not Only To Hole The Rotor Onto The Spindle But To Aliegn The Holes For The Lug Bolts. The Screw Hole On The Ebc Rotors Is Approx 1/4 Inch Off Center, Ie The Screw Hole In The Ebc Rotor Will Not Line Up With The Screw Hole In The Spindle. I Had Perfect Brakes Send Me Another Set Of Front Rotors, The Same Problem. I Returned Both Sets To Perfect Brakes And Explained The Problem To Them.
I Contacted Ebc Directly And Explained The Problem To Them. They Told Me All The Rotors For The 1998 Ml-320 Were The Same, That Is To Say They Have A Lot Of Inventory That Is Defective. However, They Don't Care. Please Read The Email From Ebc Attached. |
