ML320 Trans problem
I have been having a problem with my trans going into creep gear after turning off the engine and restarting (gas stop) when the engine and weather is hot. A check engine light comes on and the code is 700. After cooling off it stays in the creeper gear but will reset and work fine if I put it in park and then drive again. This started last summer and was fine through the winter. I do not think it has to do with the shift delay when cold because it does not seem to be using 1st gear when it is in the creeper mode.
I think it has to do withthe heat sensitivity of a sensor, but which one? I also thought about adding a transmission cooler. Anyone have any similar experience? I know if I bring it to my dealer it will be a minimum of $3000. It always is. My other choice is to get them to do a diagnostic for $100. Which I had done a few months ago and they detected a bad catalytic converter and mass air flow sensor but no mention of a trans eror. Any help would be gratly appreciated. |
Transfer case motors were a common problem on early MLs. The P0700 code just is a engine management code saying something is wrong with the trans. You need to talk to the module that reported the problem either the trans module or the transfer case.
