Need help locating chassis #

Can anyone advise on where I can find the chassis # on a 2000 ML 430? I didn't see any info under the hood or door jam.

I think if you stand outside of your vehicle and look into the drivers side lower corner of the windscreen you may find it there etched onto a plate.

Not a lot of use if you are trying to confirm that the vehicle chassis number matches the registration paper details (-:

The chassis #, not the VIN

I am looking for the chassis #, not the VIN#. In order to purchase a brake pad sensor that is missing, the shop has 2 series of chassis #'s for a 2000 (from X 707756 or from A145273). I'm not sure which to tell the shop.

there is usually an up to and a from range. that means if the last 6 digits of you vin is below thepart number applies to your model and the other means if your vin is above this number it applies to your model. send me your vin before you order them i will confirm the part number are correct.

That makes sense. Thanks. I thought there were 2 types of chassis that year, Oh well so much for thinking and not confirming!
