Question Help Changing Stop Lamp on ML320

I'm normally pretty good with mechanical things. I was actually trained (many years ago) at a GM Training Center and worked as an auto mechanic at a dealer. I also own a '80 TR-7 convertible, which proves I can do vehicle maintenance. Now, however, I'm stumped. I'm trying to put a new bulb in for the passenger side stop light of my '99 ML320 and I am unable to remove the plastic taillight assembly. I removed the two obvious nuts in the channel of the hatch, but there seems to be something else holding it in place from the inside. I'm afraid to pull too hard for fear of breaking the plastic, but I can't find any other fasteners any place. HELP!

I had to pull both rear tail light assemblies on my 99 ML 320 last month. Remove the two obvious nuts and then wiggle the assembly loose. It takes a fair amount of force, but nothing else is holding them on.

BTW, there's another forum section on this site devoted exclusively to ML, G-Wagen and Unimog. Look under General Discussion.
