trickle charger for my ML.
I don't drive my ML much anymore. I was looking at a trickle charger. I was reading the direction of one of the trickle charger I saw at walmark. It is a 1.5 amp charger. It said the charger will charge the battary until it reach 14.4 volts and current is less then 0.5 amps, and the charger will maintain the charge of the battary at 13.2 volts.
Does this sound right to you buys. Isn't it a 12 volts battary. Would the situation they describe on the charge hurt the battary or the car. I guess to answer the question, We have to know what volts and amps the ML (or mercedes) alternator charges the battary and does alternator stop charging after the battary reach a certain volt or amps. Does anyone have the facts. sometimes doing something is worst than doing nothing :D blau |
Check this site. I have the Battery MINDer and am very satisfied with it. It can be wired permanently, has a connecter for quick disconnect, is small and will handle up to 4 batteries at a time. I use one of mine to keep two watercraft batteries charged throughout the winter, connected with stereo speaker wire. I own, and have used, other maintenance chargers but the Battery MINDer is the best of the lot.
http://www.vdcelectronics.com/automotive.htm I bought mine from Battery Mart - very happy with the service and the price was right. http://www.batterymart.com/batteryminder.php Jim W. |
I've got a couple of these http://www.batterytender.com/ that have worked well for me for many years on my wifes car and my John Deere over the winter break. ;)
