B pillar top molding won't stay in place

98 ml320, on the front passenger side the long piece of top molding, where the seatbelt passes through, keeps coming off whenever the seatbelt is pulled out for use. The molding always separates from the small metal retaining clip that holds it in the slot in the body metal. Dealer said something broke off the molding and the price for new molding is $175. Anyone know of a way to rig the molding so the clip holds? Thanks.

You could epoxy the clip to the plastic trim before snaping it back into the body.
