Ps Clamp Again...
Hi guys,
'99 ML320 94K Miles. 1. Clamp and hose (failed) were replaced before recall, monies reimbursed at recall time (55K). 2. Recall Time - replaced again (no failure) with upgraded clamp and hose (67K). 3. 91K miles loose again, I tight it up my self, needed about 5 turns. 4. 94K loose again. I went to the dealer to buy the clamp and installed myself, but they told me that after the recall, the clamp is attached to the hose. I cannot replace the hose myself, you know, it has more than one screw. Apparently this is not working. They checked the clamp this time and said it was OK. But it still gets loose. Is there another solution? I can check for this periodically, if I remember, but I will hate the thing to come loose while my wife is out with the kids. Can I just add a tie wrap after the clamp? The hose looks in good shape and I thing the tube is long enough so I can attach a tie wrap between the clamp and the tube nipple. Does this makes sense? Thanks, Rene

one problem on that & most of the V-6 powered cars is the p/s fluid reservoir.
You might try replacing that reservoir & using synthetic ATF instead of what you have been using!

Thanks MB Doc, but I don't understand. This is the hose that goes from the PS to the radiator, and the problem is at the connection to the radiator.
Thanks, Rene

No problem at all adding an additional clamp, as long as you have room and the metal nipple underneath is long enough. Sounds like cheap insurance !!
