Red face Power steering leak challenge

This is amazing (to me). I had a power steering leak for a very long time. My mechanic told me it was the steering hose was leaking. I had him replace it, $220+ later it still leaked. 2 weeks later the other hose blew and the mechanic made me one for less than 1/2 the cost of the 1st one. Still leaking folks.......the mechanic said it was definately the pump itself, it was a pretty bad leak too. Lucas powersteering stop leak didn't even help. I read where some guy fixed his leak and......to make a long story short......$1.71 later and 20 minutes of my own time...FIXED!! Damn reservior gaskets.

Interesting....

I have a small PAS fluid leak and as far as I can tell it's coming from the front of the pump and does not appear to be resevoir related.
Could you tell where yor leak originated or was it just a guess ?

I sure wish I could be sure before shelling out for a new pump !

Could not tell...myself nor the mechanic.

Everything was always wet, even after cleaning. To spend $1.71 and a 1/2 hour is worth trying. If and then it still leaks, you can get a rebuild for $138.00 plus labor.
