2007 ml 350 service schedule

Does anyone have a listing of what is involved in each service (a, b, c, etc.)? I thought that there were really only 2 types of service, and they just alternated, but reading my manual yesterday, it indicates that they go A through something like H, and that each service takes longer to actualy do than the one before it, up to 8 hours of service time. I did all my own work on my old 99 ML 430, and want to do the same with this one, but there is nothing in the book about what each service entails.

Also, what is the FSS reset procedure on this car?

Thanks.

If you can't find the information in the materials that MB has provided you should ask them. You and they have a contract. Only they can specify what maintenance you need to do to abide by that contract to continue the warranty. If they are not providing that information to you, and keeping it as proprietary information available only to MB dealers, they are arguably breaching the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. It seems unlikely to me they would do this. Are you sure they have not provided it to you?

Yes, I am sure, it is not in the manual. That is all they gave me with the car.

I am not looking to turn this into some type of "them against us" thing (I am an attorney by trade, I get enough of that). I just wanted to know what the various services are for each letter. To be honest, I do not trust dealership service departments, as they have screwed up on me too many times. Plus, where I live (outside of chicago) when people ask questions like that, they give dumbed down answers, as most people who drive benzes around here would not know a belt, plug, or hose if it hit them in the head.

I prefer to do the work myself as I have always done with all my cars. This is just the first time the info was not in the manual.

There should be a maintenance manual within your owners manual. If it isn't, search the mbusa website. It is probably downloadable there. I remember downloading the entire maintainence manual for my '07 GL 320 there. That manual will NOT be enough to enable you to do your own work but it will get you started.

It would be interesting to know if they are withholding the information. I just went through this with VW - warranty compliance requires oil changes from VW approved oils list. But the list doesn't come with the car. So who has the list? Nobody has it. Dealers don't have it - "call VW NA". VW NA doesn't have it - "call your dealer". Ponzy schemes.

Send me a PM & I will send you the 6 page service sheet that dealers are to follow for that ML.

I recommend you invest in the MBUSA DVD for that W164 chassis...great info for $60
