Question Xenon Headlights Won't Install?!!

Greetings! I bought a set of Xenon (not Bi-Xenons) headlights from a fine gentleman in PA out of his 2002 ML55. They look brand new. I took my 2000 ML320 to my local MB dealer to have the OEM halogens replaced with the Xenons. I opted to have the MB do the installation since I was told that the dealer needed to re-program the ML computer to run the Xenons. Well, I got a depressing call from my friend and SA, Doug, at the MB dealership telling me that while the Xenons installed physically, fit perfectly, they can not get the lights to work even come on! I stopped by and talked, in conference with the SA, the Service Mgr and the Tech, and they contend that there is nothing in the "computer" or Control Module (they used that phrase) to turn on the Xenon, or switch from halogen to xenon. They also mentioned some wiring issues or issues with the pins in the connectors. Can anybody shed some light on this??? I was told and indeed seem to remember reading some posts, indicating this was pretty straightforward, almost a "plug and play" situation! And now the actual MB dealer with all his resources is telling me the headlights won't install??? Please share your thoughts, suggestions, ideas whatever!!!

Thanks & God Bless!

Rick

It is NOT plug and play.
You have to change the pin outs.
Or buy the pig tail harness from performanceparts.com
There's no version coding on a Y2000 ML for Xenon.

Exclamation Oh Well...

Thanks, roadsession. You are right it definitely is NOT plug and play! In fact, there are some wiring issues and other things that I don't feel like doing or paying to have done. I am selling the Xenon headlights. They are beautiful and like new but I am just gonna stick with my OEM equipment. If anybody wants a set of 01 Xenons in like new condition with brand new D2Rs. $200 buys the set.

Thanks & God Bless!
