01 ml55-few questions-changer,trip computer,wheel bearings
hello everybody
![]() i have a few questions regarding 01 ml55 amg 1. the first one is 01+ ml-generic - cd changer tested ok in another truck, but when plugged in the ml55 - doesnt work - fiber appears to be active and working (coming from the mcs harness), but changer appears dead. will not even eject. actually when you press the eject button and the mcs reboots. funny. what is the correct pinout for the 3-pin cd changer connector? 2. overhead console trip computer- doesnt seem to keep date/time/settings after the truck is shutdown. 3. rear wheel bearing- are those servicable? i have one that needs replacement. press-fit or i need the whole hub replaced? havent looked. thank you in advance alex |

For the CD player to operate the "ring master" must be re-configured by dealer laptop....ring master is the radio OR the command system.
The rear bearing is a PRESSED-in style & requires special tools OR the complete removal of the rear hub assembly.

hm.. i assume the control or the radio are already "ring master"- why would they not be? is there scenario when they are not "ring master" or they tend to "forget" under certain circumstances? the initial problem was that the mcs unit was dead, but the dealer (non-mercedes) replaced it with an mcs from another 01 ml55 ... and cd changer now doesnt work ( dunno if it worked before). could the new mcs be the problem? are cd changers and mcs "paired" in some way?
one last thing- i thought all 01 ml55 have rain-sensor... mine seems to have the actual hardware on the windshield, but clicking the stalk one down produces speed-sensitive intermittent wiper action? does the rain-sensor need to be activated in some form? thanks in advance.. alex |
