Over temp cutoff?

:( I'm paranoid. My 1999 ML320 just had a new fuel pump installed. The upgrade wiring for the front fans is not installed. After a 250 mile trip (outside Temp 100+) the truck failed to start after sitting for a short time (15-20 Min). Drove another vehicle while it cooled. It started fine after about 1 hr. of sitting :) . I had checked to temp gage all during the trip and it never got much higher than usual. Does the ML 320 have some type of cutoff switch that inhibits starting if the coolant it hotter than normal? It acted like it did before the new fuel pump was installed or like it had a vapor lock. I have been putting off getting the new wiring harness until summer, but we had a record hot day that day. Guess I need to get the new harness.

That NOT starting after driving is a sign that the crank sensor is STARTING to fail... replace ASAP!

Yep........... like DOC said, the CPS is going. Mine started failing two weeks ago on my ML 430 with around 74,500 miles. It would crank but not start. After several tries I got it going and took it to the dealer. If its any kind of dealership, they will know what the problem is. From my understanding it does not leave a code. Cost me $236.39 for labor and parts. Get it done ASAP or risk being stranded somewhere. Mercedes Roadside can't be of much help on this problem, except maybe give you a ride home. My 2 cents.

:) Thanks, I was just about to get on and ask the damage$. Not too bad. I do have a warranty, wonder if it covers CPS(?)?

Over Temp Cut-off

 I am more than paranoid now. M B Doc was right, at least that is what the dealer replaced. Not for the price quoted by another member. The warraty mentioned does not cover the CPS but almost $500 will cover what M-B is charging. I think it is outrageous. Well, the dealer will wash the truck and it will look nice and run perhaps.
