Chung Chieh, What model year ML320 are you looking at? A lot has changed since MY98.

Hi Kuan,
I'm looking at a 2001 ML270CDi or an ML320. I test drove and ML320 back in 1998 and I was quite put off with the interior quality, particularly the door trim; and heard of the electrical problems asscociated with the early types. I have seen the revised interior which IMHO looks better. Which is a better ML, the 270CDi or 320? I don't plan to get one soon, (I've been considering the ML since last year! :)) but with a face lift due out soon, should I wait? What are the pros and cons of the ML? :) Best Regards, Chung |
Good Thing that Air Bags Deployed
Actually the amount of force of striking an immovable object at 15MPH is quite high. An unbuckled passenger without an airbag can be thrown from the vehicle at this speed or up into the windshield. A few MPH faster, and the unfortunate person will go through the windshield. There is nothing you can do to stop it as no one is physically strong enough to hold on. Without airbags but with standard seatbelts, you will have a considerable brusing along the chest from the seatbelt. (and possibly cracked or broken bones)
Likewise the damage done to the vehicle should be expected since the entire force of stopping the 4500lb+ mass is concentrated in such a small area. It's one of the many reasons to appreciate the safty features of MB vehicles. Quote:
