He said it affected just a small VIN range of cars in the 2001 model year, not really documanted that well. Related to someone down in Alabama not spotwelding all the spots that were supposed to be done. So doesn't sound like it's the problem. Would be more tempted to guess it's the windshield. Either that or drive it up here to Evansville and we'll take it for a drive, heh heh

My SA is looking into "good willing" some of the cost for me......considering that the heater box seal may not be the issue...here's hoping...

What about the small aspirator motor that is often installed behind thepassenger side of the dash. It's purpose is to draw air over the AC sensors for more accurate control. Look for tubing about 3/4 inch going to this motor, which often is the source of squealing bearing noise.

Not there on a 163, The small sensor is the small grille by the radio/climate control on the drivers side. For aspiration they did the the "ol skool" way and just planted the aspirator tube BEFORE the blower fan, so when the fan runs it sucks air through the tube past the sensor. They did it that way on some of the older cars where the sensor was top/center of the dash, like the 123 chassis for example.

lt is going in.........the SA is going to drive it, as his daily driver for a couple of days to hear everything for himself...l appreciate all the help gentlemen...so to re-cap..the noise which is like a rubbing noise..only happens when the vehicle is moving..when l'm stop...it disappears... lt is coming from the general area of the glovebox.....Tons of felt have been applied around the A-pillar, the instrument panel and the windshield cowl to no avail.....lt is on the passenger side, not the driver, so the E-box fan can be eliminated and (it has been replaced already...)l will keep everyone posted........:confused:
