Which Bosch Platinum spark plug??

Hi,

I need to replace spark plugs in my '99 ML 320 (has 65k miles). I bought Platinum 2 at Wal-mart. Do you reccomend this one (it's number 4301). Would they last 100k miles?

Thanks.

No, they won't last 100k. Even the OEM plugs don't last that long.

The Bosch platimun + plugs will get the job done for 30K-45K miles, but after that will start causing problems.

The OE quality will last 100K, on some engines. IF fact I just saw a 2001 C240 with 125K & the original plugs (Beru not Bosch). NO misfires!

I would think that with 1.5-2 hrs involved & only a small savings in cost for the aftermarket plugs that you would go with the OE plug.

Bosch plug is FR8DPP33 & Beru is 14FGH-8DPURX2

Question Bosch Platinum+4 plug?

Does anyone know of any problems or issues with Bosch's Plat+4 plug, part no. 15-170P for a '99 ML430? I recently ordered them from somewhere else, but it looks like I should have checked with you guys first. They haven't came yet and I'm trying to find out if I should return them.

Don't waste your money on the Platinum +4. I installed them in my ML320 and they fouled (and I mean fouled-one electrode actually had a large piece of carbon between it and the center electrode) at 4500 miles. I removed them and put in the correct OEM plug recommended by MB and all is well. Save the money and flush your brakes or some other project that will show real savings.
