Cabin Filter Replacement
How do I replace the cabin Filters on my GL450??
|
They're behind the glove box.
|
Thanks,
How much hell is it to gain access to them. |
Pop off the panel on the right side, remove the three screws, and it falls out.
|
Okay , so I opened the G.box and I have the CD player and all that in there. You say to pop off a panel in / behind the glove box?? Not sure I follow.
thanks |
Were you able to figure out how to remove the glove box? I am also replacing the cabin filters. Thanks.
|
Never mind. I figured it out. Open the glove box and there are four torx screws, open these using T-15 and pop open the side cover and carefully remove the cover and there is another torx screw and open this one also with T-15. Disconnect the glove box lighting wires and remove the glove box. You should be able to see the box for charcoal filter or aka cabin filter. Now, slide the cabin filter cover to the left and open towards yourself. Remove the filter and pay attention to the direction of airflow on the filter. Slide the 2nd filter to the left and remove it. Then install the new one in reverse order and keep the same direction up as old ones. Good luck.

removing cabin filters
Been meaning to tell you guys that you do NOT have to pull G-box to replace filters.
They can be removed/replaced in less than 5 minutes by removing / replacing from under the hood. There's a little cover to the left side of the car on the fire wall. remove that. "squeze" the filters out and squeeze the new ones in. That what the techs do |

Thanks this short cut worked for me! I found it easier to get them out (30 seconds) then to squeeze new ones in (2 min.) but very quick. I had to remove this cover anyway to get the strut tower bar bolts out and the bar off to remove the engine air cleaner asssembly as I was also doing the engine filters. |
No Prob. I cant for the life of me figure out why others would want to do it the looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg way!
