2000 ML320 spark plug and wire replacement.

My ML320 has 93,000 miles. The MZB dealer here in San Diego suggested I change all the wires to the tune of $1500! I was in too much shock to ask about plugs. I went to Inter Auto and they sold me STI wires and Bosch FR8DPP33 plugs. Is there anything special I need to know before diving into this? Is there a torque setting on the plugs? Are the plugs Inter sold me correct? They didn't give me a choice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Plugs are correct.

Original wires will be difficult to get off--MB suggests a special tool.

Torque to 28nm, no lube on threads.

MB wires are supposed to be ~$36 ea. at dealer.

The "special tool" can be an open end wrench, I think 14mm. Slip it over the metal end of the plug wire and pull, or use it as a lever.
By the way, I had "check engine light" miss on number one, tested the resistance on the plug wires, (which were right on the money). By swapping wires I narrowed down the problem to the plug wire which tested good. (That wire, when place on cylinder #2 cured the #1 CEL, but gave a new code for a miss on number 2) Replaced that wire and both miss and CEL went away.

As for wire...is BERU is a good quality brand for MB due I noticed MB parts are cost double then BERU brand...
Thank s for the input....

EBAY WIRES $150 all day long.

Hard to imagine Mercedes German wires would go bad by 100,000 miles.
Not one but two per Cyl.

Ive never replaced ignition wires on anything because of failure.

But I read lots of posts people replace them. I checked the OHMS on mine and they all read good.

dont know why my engine is missing.
