2001 ml 320 start problem

I just purchased a 2001 ML 320 3 days ago. It does not start up on the first try; like it's not getting any gas. When I try again it starts right up. On the first try it goes dit dit da dit dit da..... and cuts off. I am going to have it looked at, I just want an idea of what it might be.

Probably a failing Crank Position Sensor (CPS). Common problem that leaves no codes. My 2 cents.

Sounds like a failing CPS (crank position sensor). No code, common problem. Dealer will fix it for less than $300.00 if your lucky. My 2 cents.
