Why is my ML320 Whistling at me?

I know my car thinks it's sexy, but why do I hear it whistling right when I turn it on? There was also a low whistle as I drove to work. It recently started doing this.

I'm getting close to having Service B done on the car - is it related to that?

Thanks!

Lisa Martin

Lisa

Where does the whistle appear to be coming from?

Lisa,

What year is your ML? Have you used the search function?

That car is a 2000

The sound seems to be coming from the dashboard.
I stepped out of the car to see if I could hear the sound from the outside (thinking it might be coming from the engine) but I couldn't here it.
It's an inside noise....

Oh and thanks for that link. It may be a problem with the fuse box so I'll try that tonight when I get home.

I had the fuse panel blower replaced by the dealer at 46K (99 ML430) and that stopped the whistling.

You sure you want to eliminate all the attention you're getting?

ML320licous 11-07-2007 09:59 AM

I think it's giving itself attention!

And how much did that little job cost you, if you don't mind my asking?
I'm due for Service B in a week so I'm willing to do what I need to.

I had a 1992 VW in college that I completely neglected and mistreated. Poor little thing.
I have to say though - German cars are CHAMPS. I've always owned them since I was 17 years old. After all the abuse I put that car through - it's still running to this day (I kept it in the family in case I miss it). Anyway, I made a vow not to mistreat the ML so whatever it needs it shall have.

Here is the part since you are new. The dealer wil prolly charge 3 times the amout to change it.:knife:
I'd try to change it for you since I live in SA also, but I'll be busy working on my car seeing as how the water pump is shot.

That's so nice of you to offer! I'll probably have my boyfriend take a look at it. He knows a lot about Mercedes - it's an addiction for him - so he'll probably be excited that I'm allowing him under the hood of the car.
I just noticed that he has a car just like yours!

Not surprised! I'll try to check it out on my own first, but if I have no luck, I'll just ask the dealer to do it while I'm getting the car serviced.
