Shouldn't be an issue. As long as a diesel has 7500 miles on it, or is over 25 years old, there isn't typically an issue. Check with your insurance and that they can insure the truck based on the vin (be it the original or what it may have been replaced to).
I didn't have an issues with my 81 300d euro. |
I drove it today...
It has some front end shimmies and shakes, Current owner (co)says it needs shocks and alinment. The brakes are gonna need caliper rebuilds I'm told. The rust is light, lower under doors. not structural but needs to be dealt with.
It has 180k km and the motor seems quiet and strong, w/ no blowby at the cap and no leaks down under. As a four speed manual, It's a great truck to drive. Was a delivery truck in Germany, shipped here through LA not yet CA reg. Does it need an expensive dyno test to pass? co mentioned one and that it has to happen in So Cal at an air resources board place. Is there a place in Nor Cal who will check a diesel? Any idea what a 1981 300GD is worth? |
