2001 ML Cruise Control Stopped Working

Cruise stopped working suddenly, no other apparent problems with vehicle. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? Cost to repair from dealer/shop? Possible DIY?

Thanks,
Dan

Sounds like a faulty Brake Light Switch, easy DIY, see http://www.keysolutions.com/M-Class.nsf/Home?OpenFrameSet&Frame=Main&Src=%2FM-Class.nsf%2Faac7d56ca8fd884b852563be00610639%2Ffb48fc08332238e585256e830060747e%3FOpenDocument%26Aut oFramed

Replaced BLS a while back because BAS/ETS lights on, but haven't noticed if brake lights now working properly. Will check it out (wife's car, not here right now). Thanks.

Every make and model has its lemons. I've owned dozens of cars and this one is among the best. Sorry if you've had a bad experience.

My 2000 ML has been great. And on a trip, 24 mpg (320 engine). Also, doesn't burn any oil.

My ETS light came on earlier this week. Cruise quit working but brake lights still worked. Turned out to be the brake light switch (after only 184,300 miles). (FWIW the NC side was fine but the NO side was stuck open.) Back to normal now. Thanks to all who posted this great DIY.
