Going Through Puddles/Exhaust Noise

Last night while driving through some serious rain, my 2001 ML 320 started sounding like it had an exhaust leak after driving through some good size (no where near engine stalling) puddles. This would go away as I drove and then happen agian as the undercarriage got a good splash. No loss in power, hesitation etc.

Has anyone had this problem?

John

Man its very simple, u have a crack in one of the pipes connecting to either the manifold or one of the mufflers. When water splashes the pipe cools and thus shrinks exposing the crack, as it warmes up again it expandes and the crack becomes smaller and thus less chance of it leacking.
